Harold and Kumar star Kal Penn comes out as gay, reveals he's engaged to longtime partner Josh

Indian-American actor Kal Penn, known for his work in House, Designated Survivor, the Harold and Kumar film franchise, has come out gay. The actor also revealed that has been in a relationship with his partner Josh for 11 years and the couple is engaged.

In his new book You Can't Be Serious, the actor shares the story of how he met his fiancé Josh and fell in love when Penn was living in Washington. "I've always been very public with everybody I've personally interacted with. Whether it's somebody that I meet at a bar, if Josh and I are out or we're talking to friends," Penn told PEOPLE tabloid. "I'm really excited to share our relationship with readers. But Josh, my partner, my parents, and my brother, four people who I'm closest to in the family, are fairly quiet. They don't love attention and shy away from the limelight."

"Figuring out the narrative [in the book], of how to respect who they really are, with telling my story — that includes: my work life, both in Hollywood and DC, it includes my love life with Josh and how we met, it includes my parents, to the extent that I'm willing to share stories about their upbringing," he told the tabloid. "So that was the most important thing for me. I wanted my story to be authentic from my perspective and told in a way that makes you feel like you really get to know me."

In his book You Can't Be Serious, Penn talked about his first date with Josh and wrote, "I thought, 'This obviously is not going to work out. I have one day off from The White House and this dude is unironically watching cars go around and make left turns? Next thing you know, it's been a couple months and we're watching NASCAR every Sunday. I'm like, 'What is happening?' I wanted the reader to enjoy the love and the humor through all of those stories."

"I shared things with my parents and close friends first," he told PEOPLE. "I know this sounds jokey, but it's true: When you've already told your Indian parents and the South Asian community that you intend to be an actor for a living, really any conversations that come after that are super easy. They're just like, 'Yeah, okay.' I felt very supported by everyone. That's a wonderful thing. I know everybody has different experiences with that and so I definitely feel very fortunate."

Penn said, "I discovered my own sexuality relatively late in life compared to many other people. There's no timeline on this stuff. People figure their s--- out at different times in their lives, so I'm glad I did when I did."

SCOOP: Sajid Nadiadwala inks a 5 film deal with Amazon Prime - From Heropanti 2, Bachchan Pandey to Kick 2 for more than Rs. 250 crores

Sajid Nadiadwala is among the most successful producers of Hindi film industry with a knack of commercial cinema like no one else. He is known for his business acumen and now, Bollywood Hungama has learnt that the filmmaker has inked a 5 film deal with Amazon Prime Video.

"In the lockdown, Sajid Nadiadwala was in conversation with several OTT giants to ink a multi-film deal for his slate of releases and he found his partner in Amazon Prime Video. He has inked a mega deal upside of Rs. 250 crores for five of his upcoming films - Bachchan Pandey, Heropanti 2, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali, Satyanarayan Ki Katha and Kick 2," a source told Bollywood Hungama.

It's a flexible deal, and they are yet to zero in on a window period between theatrical and OTT release. What caught our attention is the presence of Kick 2 in the contract. The source further told us, "Sajid is very keen to make Kick 2 with Salman and has been working on the script for a while now. He is sure that the film will be made and hence, included it in the contract. Of the entire slate, he has fetched the maximum amount for Kick 2."

Apart from these 5 films, his soon to be released production, Tadap, too will premiere on Amazon Prime Video. The team has zeroed in on a 4 week window for this romantic action film. Sajid is also in conversations with satellite players and studios for partnership on respective deals.

Bigg Boss 15: Akasa Singh gets evicted from the house

Host Salman Khan on Sunday announced the eviction of Akasa Singh from Bigg Boss 15 house. The singer was nominated along with Simba Nagpal and Vishal Kotian. Due to her selective participation in the game, it was quite expected that she would get evicted this week.

While Akasa promised to add entertainment to the season, she was hardly visible in the game and it was only her closeness with Pratik Sehajpal that got her some limelight. However, fans were quick to claim that Akasa tried to replicate Neha Bhasin’s game from Bigg Boss OTT by bonding with Pratik.

The ‘Naagin’ singer also gained some footage in the house when she tried to hook up Donal Bisht and Vidhi Pandya in the initial days. Akasa was recently also seen trying to get Karan Kundrra and Tejasswi Prakash together.

With Akasa’s eviction, Pratik Sehajpal, Karan Kundrra, Tejasswi Prakash, Jay Bhanushali, Vishal Kotian, Simba Nagpal, IeshaanSehajpal, Miesha Iyer, Umar Riaz, Nishant Bhat, Rajiv Adatia and Afsana Khan are now in the race to lift Bigg Boss 15 trophy.

Advance booking for Sooryavanshi and Eternals yet to open in multiplex chains due to revenue sharing and show-sharing issues

The much awaited film, Sooryavanshi, is all set to release in four days, on November 5. The excitement is sky-high but surprisingly, the advance booking hasn’t opened yet in many cinemas and especially in the national multiplex chains like Inox, PVR and Cinepolis. This is because the cinemas and the producers of the film are in negotiations over two aspects.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “Before the pandemic, the revenue sharing model was fixed since 2009 and the film industry was following it to the T. But post pandemic, the producers have been asking for a larger share. Sooryavanshi’s producers have asked for 60% revenue in Week 1, 55% in Week 2 and 50% in Week 3 and 4, from single screens, standalone multiplexes and non-national multiplexes. As for the national chains, the negotiations are going on and it’s expected to not be as high as 60% in the first week. Both parties are expected to reach an agreement by today (Monday) evening or latest by Tuesday afternoon.”

The source added, “The single screens and standalone multiplexes have requested that they want the same terms of revenue sharing as the national multiplexes. A solution will be reached on this front soon. Those theatres which have 2k format can at least make it clear that in the absence of reasonable revenue sharing for Sooryavanshi, they’ll go ahead and give all their shows to Disney’s Eternals, which is also releasing on November 5. However, the non-2k theatres won’t have this choice as Hollywood films are not allowed to be released in such cinemas. Hence, they have no choice but to screen Sooryavanshi and are hoping that a solution is reached soon.”

The source continued, “Disney has asked for 50% revenue sharing in Week 1, 48% in Week 2, 45% in Week 3 and 40% in Week 4 in the case of Eternals. And as is the norm now, the cinema halls would also be expected to shell out 30% of the 3D premium with the studio.”

The other aspect where there’s no clear consensus is over screen sharing. The source revealed, “We have heard that Reliance has said that they want maximum shows of Sooryavanshi in multiplexes and nearly 100% of shows in theatres with 3 or less than 3 screens. This means that smaller theatres are not being allowed to show Eternals. Disney, on the other hand, has demanded at least some showcasing for their film in these theatres. It is going all out in making it clear to the exhibitors that Eternals is a big film and deserves to be played.”

The source remarked, “It is for the first time probably that we are seeing Disney go all out in ensuring that its film gets a good number of shows in cinemas. The success of the previous Marvel film, Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings, must have motivated them to do so. Also, they see immense potential in the Indian market and feel Eternals can be a good way to accelerate their road to the expansion of business in the country.” The trade source added, “Disney and Fox have an enviable slate in 2022. Hence, the exhibitors are wary of getting into their bad books.”

In the midst, the exhibitors are suffering. An exhibitor sighed, “Instead of these studios sitting across the table and solving the issue, they prefer to arm-twist us. We don’t want to hurt either Reliance or Disney and want to provide a reasonable number of shows to Sooryavanshi as well as Eternals. We are just waiting and hoping a consensus is met and also that revenue sharing is reasonable.”

The exhibitor also asked, “We never thought this problem would arise in the case of Sooryavanshi and Eternals. I now wonder what will happen in the week when Antim and Satyameva Jayate 2 would clash. And there are many more clashes taking place in the future.”

However, an industry insider assured that all will be well, “It’ll be a Happy Diwali for producers and exhibitors. This is not the first such instance and we are sure all the parties concerned would reach an agreement soon. These studios understand the plight and require theatres and the theatres also want these films to release so that they earn to their heart’s content, which they haven’t been able to since March 2020. Just give it some time and things will be fine.”

Urmila Matondkar tests positive for Covid-19

Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar has been diagnosed by the novel coronavirus. The actress shared the news on October 31 about testing tested positive for the virus. She announced the news on Twitter. Urmila has mentioned that she has currently isolated herself and requested everyone who came in contact with her get tested.

Taking to her Twitter handle, Urmila wrote, “I’ve tested positive for #COVID19. I’m fine n have isolated myself in home quarantine. Requesting everyone who came in contact with me to get tested immediately. Also humbly request all you lovely people to take care of yourselves during the Diwali festivities.”

Shatrughan Sinha says his kids Sonakshi Sinha, Luv and Kush don't do drugs - "I can proudly say that their upbringing is so good"

Veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha has said that his three kids Sonakshi Sinha, Luv, and Kush don't do drugs. They don't have such vices and their upbringing is good. In an interview, the actor spoke about the manner in which Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested earlier this month by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

While speaking to NDTV India, Shatrughan said, “Justice hona chahiye aur aaj wohi hua (There should be justice and that is what has happened today),” referring to Aryan Khan receiving bail after three weeks.

When asked whether it is challenging for celebs to guide their children, he said, “Chunauti ho ya na ho, aisa zaroor hona chahiye. Mera shuru se maanna hai, main toh preach aur practice karta hoon, anti-tobacco campaign karta hoon. Main humesha kehta hoon, ‘say no to drugs and shun tobacco’ (Whether it is challenging or not, they must guide their children. I practice what I preach, I am a part of anti-tobacco campaigns. I always say, ‘say no to drugs and shun tobacco’).”

“Aaj main iss maamle mein bhagyashaali samajhta hoon ki mere bachche hai, Luv-Kush aur meri beti Sonakshi, main inn bachchon ke baare mein bohot fakhr se keh sakta hoon ki inki upbringing itni achchi hui hai ki inko kisi kism ki aisi koi habit ya aise maamle mein na unko kabhi suna hai, na dekha hai, na paaya hai na woh karte hai aisi koi harkat (I consider myself lucky that my children - Luv, Kush and Sonakshi… I can proudly say that their upbringing is so good that they don’t have any such habit. I have never heard them being associated with or seen them doing such things),” he added.

Aryan Khan received bail on October 28 by Bombay High Court. He was taken into custody on the night of October 2 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) along with a few others after the agency conducted a raid on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast. On October 3, Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB in the case. On October 30, Aryan Khan was released from Arthur Road Jail.

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's elder child Aryan Khan has returned home 28 days in jail. He was taken into custody on the night of October 2 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) along with a few others after the agency conducted a raid on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast. On October 3, Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB in the case. On October 30, Aryan Khan was released from Arthur Road Jail. Shah Rukh Khan's bodyguard Ravi Singh and his team had reached early in the morning to pick him up. The jail authorities picked up the bail order at 5:30 am on Saturday from the Arthur Road Jail mailbox. Aryan Khan was released from jail at 11 am after which he sat in the car and left the jail. As Shah Rukh Khan's son reached Mannat with thousands of fans outside the residence of the superstar celebrating his return, Urmila Matondkar praised the actor's strength in these trying times.

Urmila Matondkar took to social media to appreciate how SRK handled this crisis. She wrote on Twitter, “Person’s true character is revealed in tough times. Aryan Khan was detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on October 2, 2021, after the NCB raided a cruise ship. He was arrested on October 3 under Section 8(c), 20(b), 27, 28, 29 and 35 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

‘Eternals’ Is More Woke than Wonderful

The best superhero movies downplay their ties to their ink and paper past.

Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” trilogy slathered the Bat with layers of grit and realism. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” advanced realpolitik threads between Cap’s super battles.

“The Eternals” tries the latter approach, and boy does it come up empty. Then again, it’s hard to dwell on contextual flaws when its parade of new heroes proves so forgettable.

Director Chloe Zhao’s film looks beautiful, but it’s as empty as a Halloween treat bowl come Nov. 1.

The Eternals, for the uninitiated, are a team of super beings dropped on earth some 7,000 years ago. Their mission? Defend the planet against the Deviants, nasty critters that look like rejects from a “Jurassic World” sequel.

Our heroes wiped them out oh, so many years ago, but the colorfully clad souls stuck around just in case they came back.

And you thought union workers took too many breaks.

The Deviant threat re-emerges in our current time (after Thanos’ snap and the subsequent restoration), meaning the Eternals must reunite to finish their original mission. They’ll also be tasked with a new order from Arishem the Judge, the all-powerful Celestial who sent our heroes to earth in the first place.

The film does a yeomanlike job setting all the pieces in motion, but few of them will snag your attention. The Eternals themselves fall into a similar rut. There’s Ikarus (Richard Madden of “Bodyguard” fame), a Superman-like figure with laser beam eyes and a confusing sense of purpose.

Brian Tyree Henry, a gay Eternal with a knack for gadgets and parenting tips, doubles as the film’s conscience. Salma Hayek gets little to do as the group’s de factor leader, but she’s spared the indignity of the film’s flimsiest character.

Yes, that’s Angelina Jolie looking regal as Thena, wielding a glowing sword and a mental condition where she turns on her friends at random intervals. It makes no sense and is poorly woven into the story.

The Eternals were told not to interfere with human history, similar to “Star Trek’s” prime directive. So why did they stick around for 7,000 years? And can we really believe two of the Eternals dated for 5,000 years but went their separate ways?

They said it wouldn’t last, right?

The film’s pre-release hype tripled down on the film’s woke bona fides.

• Look at the cast’s diversity!
• We have our first, fully “out” gay MCU hero!
• One Eternal is deaf (Lauren Ridloff), a condition added for the film
• Another hero curses the U.S. dropping nuclear bombs on Japan via flashback, ignoring the full context behind the decision
• There’s even a blink and you’ll miss it “love scene” that adds nothing besides a marketing-approved talking point

The woke bullet points don’t hurt the movie beyond some mild distractions. The lack of compelling characters and a preachy script do more damage than any Deviant assault.

Matters get worse in the busy, bewildering third act.

By now, the various “Eternals fight Deviant” set pieces have worn out their welcome, even though the earlier skirmishes are handled expertly by Zhao. That leaves some character contortions that either make little sense or muddy the film’s mood. Plus, one character disappears for a long stretch during a critical fight.

And, once again, the Eternals stop bickering long enough to battle one another. The MCU really needs to push past this shtick.

The tenuous bonds forged between the characters during the 2.5 hour running time are shaken as the story limps to the finale, arguably the worst in the MCU franchise.

MCU films routinely balance large ensemble casts while letting the individuals shine. One reason “Avengers: Infinity War” is such a joy is how it showcases so many heroes without leaving us dizzy.

It helped that we previously got to know the characters, of course, in previous films.

Here? Everyone is a new face, and perhaps Kumail Nanjiani fares the best as Kingo, leaning into his natural comic rhythms to make his character pop. Equally good is Harish Patel, following the Eternals around to capture their heroics in documentary form. (Let’s ignore that these heroes prefer to keep their super powers secret…)

Most MCU films shrewdly interlock with previous installments, one reason the franchise is so beloved. That’s a mission the new “Star Wars” sequels failed… miserably. In “The Eternals” we get some references to Thanos and “the blip,” but it rarely feels organic.

The Eternals concept, as presented here, is sillier than most MCU concepts. Yet the notion of super beings being forced to live among humans, while hiding the fact that they never age, offers intriguing potential.

The film’s screenplay, credited to Zhao and three other scribes, never fully explores that vein beyond cutesy references. Nor do the obligatory mid-credit scenes make us pine for more “Eternals” stories.

This isn’t as soul-crushing as “Captain Marvel,” the MCU’s bottom of the super barrel. “The Eternals” may still need a time out before Hollywood considers a second swing at the saga.

HiT or Miss: “The Eternals” is too busy to be dull, but that doesn’t mean it’s a worthy addition to the MCU canon.

Dwayne Johnson to reunite with Jumanji director Jake Kasdan for Christmas-themed adventure movie Red One

Filmmaker Jake Kasdan is reuniting with his Jumanji star Dwayne Johnson for Red One, the unique Christmas-themed feature project set up at Amazon. Hiram Garcia, the President of production of Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions created the original story which is now being translated into a script by Chris Morgan, who previously worked with Johnson on four Fast and Furious movies as well as the Johnson-led 2019 spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon picked up the project in June. The details are being kept in the sack but Red One, which is a tentative title, is described by Amazon as “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.”

Johnson is attached to star, possibly even as Santa himself, and is producing with his Seven Bucks Productions cohorts, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia. Kasdan will direct the feature project and also joins the ranks of its producers as well via his banner, The Detective Agency, along with Melvin Mar; Sky Salem Robinson co-producing.

Kasdan and Johnson worked together on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level. He is known for his comedic touch with his movies Walk Hard and Bad Teacher and most recently helmed the first episode of Doogie Kamealoha, M.D for Disney+.

The innovative holiday event project aims to shoot in 2022 with a 2023 holiday release.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Fiona Shaw join Ryan Reynolds for John Krasinski’s upcoming fantasy-comedy

English actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Irish actress Fiona Shaw are confirmed to join the ensemble cast of John Krasinski‘s upcoming untitled fantasy-comedy for Paramount. In addition to directing and writing the high-profile movie, Krasinski will also be starring opposite Ryan Reynolds, as previously announced. While the plot details are kept under wraps, the story is said to be based on an original idea of Krasinski’s about a child’s journey to rediscover their imagination.

Waller-Bridge is the Emmy-winning creator of the hit British series Fleabag and Killing Eve (she also starred in the former). The British writer-actress-producer is currently in production on Indiana Jones 5 and contributed to the script of the latest James Bond film, No Time to Die.

Waller-Bridge and Shaw will be reuniting after Shaw starred in Killing Eve and guest-starred on Fleabag. She also earned Emmy nominations for both. Shaw’s other credits include playing Aunt Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter movies, and Ammonite. Upcoming, the Irish actress will appear in the Star Wars series Andor for Disney+.

Krasinski is producing the untitled film with his Sunday Night partners Allyson Seeger and Andrew Form. Reynolds is also a producer via his company, Maximum Effort; while Maximum Effort’s George Dewey will executive produce.Both Krasinski and Reynolds’ production banners have first-look deals with Paramount. The Maximum Effort pact was struck when former 20th Century Fox production chief Emma Watts who shepherded Reynolds’ Deadpool franchise came to Paramount in mid-2020 but has recently departed.

The shooting for untitled fantasy-comedy is expected to being shooting summer 2022and is scheduled to have a Thanksgiving 2023 release.

Amitabh Bachchan mourns Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s untimely demise

The sudden demise of Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar's demise has left the entire industry in deep grief. The actor suffered cardiac arrest and passed away at the age of 46. After his demise, several celebrities have been grieving and condoling the late actor’s death on social media.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan also mourned the Kannada star's death and expressed being in ‘great shock’. He also mentioned dealing with the ‘grief’ of two deaths on Friday. Amitabh took to his blog and wrote, "Rajkumar, the younger son of the legendary icon of Kannada cinema, Raj Kumar, and a star in his own right, passed away today he was just 46 years, and this has put all of us in great shock. The family of late RajKumar have ever been extremely close".

Amitabh also condoled Puneeth’s death on Twitter and wrote, “T 4079 - .. a day of remorse and prayer .. two close to the family passed away today .. it is too dark.”

Puneeth Rajkumar was in the gym on the morning of October 29 when he suffered chest pain and was immediately taken to Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru. He was declared dead at 2.30 pm. The superstar will be cremated with full state honours on Sunday, October 31.

The cremation ceremony will be held at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru’s Nandini Layout, where Puneeth’s father and Kannada icon Dr. Rajkumar is buried. The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai has granted permission to cremate Puneeth's body next to his father's burial place.

Puneeth Rajkumar had pledged to donate his eyes, just like his father. His eyes were donated on Friday. He is survived by his wife Ashwini and their two daughters.

Vivah actor Yusuf Husain passes away; Hansal Mehta pens note for father-in-law who helped him make Shahid

Yusuf Husain, known for his roles in films such as Vivah, Dhoom 2 and Dil Chahta Hai, passed away on Friday. Filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who is the late actor's son-in-law, and actor Manoj Bajpayee, have mourned the death of the veteran actor on social media.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee mourned the loss by sharing a picture of the veteran actor on his Instagram Stories. He wrote, “Rest in peace Yusuf Sahab!! #SAFEENA @hansalmehta.”

Shahid was completed. That was Yusuf Husain. Not my father-in-law but a father. He was life if life itself had to have a physical form. Today he is gone. To remind all those women in heaven that they are 'Duniya ki sabse khubsurat ladki and All the men that they are 'Haseen naujwaan'. And then to end with a booming 'love you love you love you'. Yusuf Saab I owe this new life to you. I am truly orphaned today. Life will never be the same. I will miss you terribly. My Urdu will remain broken. And yes - love you love you love you!”

Zayn Malik denies harassment charges of allegedly shoving Yolanda Hadid during fight

Singer Zayn Malik has denied to multiple charges of harassment against his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid and her mother Yolanda following a volatile September argument at their Pennsylvania home, according to court documents obtained by People tabloid.

The singer was charged with four counts of harassment after an incident on September 29 in which he allegedly "grabbed [Yolanda] and shoved her into a dresser, causing mental anguish and physical pain," the documents say. The former One Direction singer also allegedly hurled a series of insults and "continuous cursing" at Yolanda including telling her to "stay away from [his] f—ing daughter."

In a statement to TMZ, Malik pleaded no contest to claims that he had struck Yolanda, saying, "I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private."

Malik was also charged with harassment against his supermodel ex Gigi Hadid, with the court documents claiming that he told her to "Strap on some f—ing balls and defend your partner against your f—ing mother in my house" in a conversation a source previously told PEOPLE was over the phone while Gigi was away for work. The ‘Pillowtalk’ singer faced an additional charge against John McMahon, whom he attempted to "physically engage in a fight…while continually cursing at him," the documents say. McMahon is a security guard who was on hand September 29, according to TMZ.

Malik has pleaded no contest to the charges, though his plea was entered as a guilty plea, according to the documents. The 28-year-old singer is required to serve 90 days of probation for each of the four counts, resulting in 360 total days of probation. Malik must also complete an anger management class and a domestic violence program, and is barred from having contact with Yolanda or McMahon. His probation will end if he goes six months without any violations. Amid the dispute, a Malik source tells PEOPLE he is focused on Khai.

The incident was first brought to the attention of the public in a statement Malik shared to Twitter on Thursday, in which he said he wanted to create "a place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart," adding that the incident "was and still should be a private matter." Multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Malik was referencing Yolanda in the statement.

Shortly after, a representative for Gigi said in a statement that the star "is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time."

Malik and Gigi, who sources previously confirmed to have broken up, are parents to daughter Khai, 13 months.

Rinzing Denzongpa and Malvika Raaj's debut film Squad to release on ZEE5 on November 12, 2021

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt to shoot a song before Brahmastra wrap up

As the much-awaited Brahmastra seems to have reached its last leg, it is heard that director Ayan Mukerji has included a song at the last minute. The film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt went through its share of excruciating times since it went on floors in 2018. As per the sources, a large set has been erected at Film City, Goregaon, where the leads will give shape to the track over the next two weeks.

A source revealed that while Ayan has lined up a few sequences, the primary shoot is of the song. An elaborate set has been put up, and over 40 junior artistes will be part of the number, said the source.

The source further added that after Alia finishes her portions, she will return to the set of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani because the next schedule of Karan Johar’s movie is lined up for December in Delhi.

Moreover, if all goes well, Ayan will call it a wrap on his project by November end which also features Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna.

Three years after their National Award-winning film, Badhaai Ho, Junglee Pictures is all set to take the love for the movie to the next level with Badhaai Do. The movie directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni is one of the most eagerly awaited family entertainers releasing next year. BREAKING! Aryan Khan released from Arthur Road Jail, returns home after 28 days

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's elder child Aryan Khan will be returning home after 28 days. He was taken into custody on the night of October 2 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) along with a few others after the agency conducted a raid on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast. On October 3, Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB in the case. The Khan house, Mannat, in Bandra was decked up with lights to welcome Aryan on Friday, October 29. However, owing to a delay in completing formalities for release, Aryan had to spend another night in jail.

Today, October 30, Aryan Khan was released from Arthur Road Jail. Shah Rukh Khan's bodyguard Ravi and his team had reached early morning to pick him up. The jail authorities picked up the bail order at 5:30 am on Saturday from the Arthur Road Jail mailbox. Aryan Khan was released from jail at 11am after which he sat in the car and left the jail.

Aryan Khan and his friends Arbaaz Merchant were denied bail thrice before submitting a plea at the Bombay High Court. The Higher Court started hearing the bail plea by Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant, and Munmun Dhamecha on October 26. It was concluded on October 28 with the judge passing its verdict in favour of Aryan Khan and the other two accused.

On Friday, Bombay High Court Justice Sambre issued the bail order citing 14 bail conditions for Aryan Khan. The conditions included a bail surety of Rs. 1 lakh, surrendering of passport, and appearing before the NCB every Friday to mark his presence. Soon after, Juhi Chawla appeared at a Mumbai sessions court to sign the bail surety of Aryan Khan. She is not only Shah Rukh Khan's close friend but also a business partner.

Aryan Khan was represented by Senior Advocate Satish Maneshinde, Senior Advocate Amit Desai, and Former Attorney General of India Mukul Rohatgi.

The INSIDE Story: Salman Khan wanted to release Antim on Diwali; the superstar averted the clash with Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi on Rohit Shetty’s request

The much awaited film Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar, is all set to release in a week and the excitement everywhere is tremendous. Not just fans, but even the industry members have been tweeting in support as it’s the first big Hindi film to release on the big screen after nearly 18 months. Bollywood Hungama has now found out that a prominent industry person also stepped in to ensure that Sooryavanshi did not face any obstacles at the box office. And that person is none other than superstar Salman Khan.

A source told us, “Salman Khan was looking at a date to release his film Antim – The Final Truth, co-starring Aayush Sharma. One of the dates he was eyeing was November 5, which is also the day Sooryavanshi releases. When Sooryavanshi’s director and co-producer Rohit Shetty learnt about this development, he met Salman Khan and requested him to avoid clashing with his film. He told the superstar that a solo release was important for a big film like Sooryavanshi.”

The source continued, “Salman Khan agreed with Rohit Shetty’s point. He realized that if Antim – The Final Truth will clash with Sooryavanshi, then the screens will get divided and it may harm both the films, particularly Sooryavanshi, as it’s quite a big-budget fare. Hence, Salman gracefully decided not to release Antim – The Final Truth on November 5. He finally decided to bring the Mahesh Manjrekar-directorial on November 26.”

Interestingly, Rohit Shetty and Sooryavanshi’s leading lady Katrina Kaif went to promote their action packed film on ‘Bigg Boss 15’ which is hosted by Salman Khan. The shoot of this episode took place yesterday.

A trade expert shared with Bollywood Hungama, “This shows the love and brotherhood among the people of the Bollywood fraternity. Rohit Shetty has waited for nearly 18-19 months to release his film in cinemas. He didn’t take the OTT route and it's good to see that the industry is giving him full support to ensure that his film gets the best possible showcasing. It’s also heartening to see that no film is releasing on November 12, that is, a week after Sooryavanshi.”

She is a long-time friend of SRK and his family and also co-owns the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders with Khan.

On Friday, October 29, Juhi said she was happy Aryan Khan can finally walk free after spending three weeks in Arthur Road Jail. She told ANI, “I’m just happy that it’s all over and Aryan Khan will come home very soon. I think it’s a big relief for everybody”.

Aryan Khan was detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on October 2, 2021, after the NCB raided a cruise ship. He was arrested on October 3 under Section 8(c), 20(b), 27, 28, 29 and 35 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Wes Craven’s ‘Deadly Blessing’ Revealed a Filmmaker in Transition

Wes Craven’s “Deadly Blessing” (1981) abounds with imagery, themes and scare tactics that would be present in subsequent Craven works.

It’s also, after gaining infamy as the maker of rape and revenge grindhouse works “Last House on the Left” (1972) and “The Hills Have Eyes” (1977), a transition for Craven from notorious cinematic outlaw to a respected filmmaker.

While rarely mentioned as one of the director’s noteworthy films, “Deadly Blessing” is not just a solid genre offering but Craven’s first genuinely scary movie.

Maren Jensen (of “Battlestar Gallactica” fame) stars as Martha, who is living on a farm with her husband Jim, a former member of a Hittite cult nearby. The Hittites are described by one character as being far stricter than the Amish.

When Martha’s husband dies, it sets off a chain of tragic events and a tension between her and Isaiah (Ernest Borgnine), the sinister head of the Hittites. Isaiah wants her to surrender her land to him.

When Martha’s attractive friends from out of town (Susan Buckner and, in her second film role, Sharon Stone) come to visit, it further creates a social imbalance. The temptation and jealousy stirring within the Hittite community inspires one of them to kill.

Although a handsomely made film, distributed by United Artists, boasting good production values and showcasing a great James Horner score, it has Craven’s trademark exploration of a community haunted by secrets.

Craven has portrayed religious dynamics and characters of faith facing unspeakable monsters before, though it’s especially intriguing here. The Hittites initially appear serene (due to a lovely still photo montage over the opening credits) but reveal themselves to be cruel.

Another aspect of Craven’s work that surfaces is of a cluster of friends suddenly finding their youthful dreams halted by death and corrupt forces working against them.

Patriarchal oppression and parental control over their children are also prevalent themes in Craven’s “The People Under the Stairs” (1991). Although Craven is flexing his creative muscles here and demonstrating his abilities with the genre, there’s also a depth that persists in all of his films, even the weaker ones.

Craven was famously a former college professor turned filmmaker, whose erudite quality wasn’t always obvious in his work. Listening to Craven’s director commentaries were also master classes on the themes and subtext in his work.

Here, Craven’s depiction of religious abuse within a small community and the power one man holds by corralling the beliefs of those in his flock, isn’t simply a reflection of contained mania. It feels like a reflection of modern-day pariahs who maintain a firm grip on their followers by administering cult-think.

“Deadly Blessing” is about how belief can be used as a weapon to corral people, creating submission in the name of faith. Craven’s film is scary enough at face value but equally unsettling under the surface.

Although he received a Razzie nomination for Worst Supporting Actor, Borgnine is exceptional here, tapping into the sadism and pride of his patriarchal character. The shock of seeing him played a bug-eyed villain wears off when you see his commitment to the role.

Michael Berryman is well cast as a Hittite villager with a foolish attraction to the women around him. While Jensen and co-star Susan Bruckner never made a film after this, they’re both affecting here.

Stone, in the early, Cannon Films-era first leg of her long film career, is awfully game here, particularly when a tarantula crawls slowly across her chest.

While it begins slowly and suggests a reserved film at first, “Deadly Blessing” gets wilder with every turn and unleashes some unforgettable imagery. In addition to the aforementioned spider attack on Stone (there are a number of them, actually), Jensen gets into a bubble bath that is intruded by a massive snake (the crotch level shot of the snake invading Jensen’s personal space is, of course, a precursor to the iconic tub scene with Heather Langenkamp in the original “A Nightmare on Elm St.”).

Then there’s the final scene, a crazy shot in the dark that aims to end the film on an unpredictable note, which it does, because no one could have imagined a conclusion so batty. It’s another bit that resembles “A Nightmare on Elm St.,” namely the equally nutty way that film also decided to conclude.

“Deadly Blessing” lacks the dramatic power of Craven’s prior cult classics and his more consistently intense subsequent works. There’s also a quality to the screenplay where, although the tone is consistently tense, the film teeters between being captivating and quite silly.

As a whodunit, it’s satisfying, if obvious. However, as a look at 20th century women who are harassed by a cult who cling onto 18th century values and religious beliefs, it’s both fascinating and chilling.

Jail officials says Aryan Khan promised financial and legal help to some prisoners after he got bail

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's son Aryan Khan was granted bail on Thursday, 25 days after his arrest in a drugs case. He is currently lodged in Arthur Road Jail and was in his cell when the bail was granted by the Bombay High Court. The Court's decision was conveyed to Aryan by the jail authorities.

According to reports, jail officials said that Aryan was happy to receive the information about getting bail and also expressed his gratitude to the prison staff. He was informed at around 6 pm.

Reports state that Aryan also promised to provide financial help to the families of some prisoners he got acquainted with during his stay in the jail. He also assured them of legal help.

The Bombay High Court granted bail to Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant, and Munmun Dhamecha on Thursday evening after hearing arguments for three days. While Aryan and Arbaaz were lodged in Arthur Road Jail, Munmun is lodged in Byculla Women's prison in Mumbai. Aryan Khan will walk free today after all the formalities are completed. The HC will have to issue the detailed bail order which will have to be submitted at a special anti-narcotics court who will then issue a release order. The release order has to reach the prison before 5.30 pm for Aryan and the other accused to be released. If the release order reaches after 5.30, they can be let go only on Saturday morning.

‘PR Bond of Rs. 1 lakh, surrender passport, appear at NCB office every Friday’- HC sets 14 conditions for Aryan Khan’s bail

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's son Aryan Khan was granted bail on Thursday, 25 days after his arrest in a drugs case. Justice Sambre while passing the bail judgment said that a detailed report will be issued on Friday. On Friday afternoon details of the bail order were issued.

The bail order of Aryan Khan states, “He should present PR bond of Rs 1 lakh with one or more sureties in like amount. He should not indulge in any similar activities, not try to establish contact with co-accused, and should surrender his passport before Special Court immediately.” The trio will also have to appear at the NCB office every Friday between 11 am to 2 pm to mark their presence.

There are a total of 14 bail conditions in the order issued by the Bombay HC Justice Sambre:

The Bail order will have to be passed on to a special anti-narcotics court who will then issue a release order which will be sent to Arthur Road Jail.
