Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki is one of many prominent directors working within Europe in the past few decades, and one of the biggest Finnish film directors in general. Known for his sparse b ut quirky visual style, which consists of many minimalist scenes, sets, and performances, Kaurismäki has been consistently putting out feature films throughout the years with a curious eye towards those often not depicted on the screen.
