Aaron Eckhart elevates a predictable and melodramatic thriller with a stunningly intense physical performance. Rumble Through the Dark has the venerable actor as a bare-knuckle cage fighter desperately trying to repay substantial debts. He flashbacks to the loving foster mother that saved a troubled childhood while sacrificing his mind, body, and spirit. Fate connects him with a young stripper searching for clues to her past. Their bond gives two lost souls the strength to confront crisis together. The film packs a wallop at times but often meanders with a sluggish script and questionable directorial decisions.
